Ellenzék, no. 98, 2 May 1944

Titlu

Ellenzék, no. 98, 2 May 1944

Descriere

Letter sent by Olga Gaal from the Budapest theatre in which the author records the hostile and increasingly anti-Semitic atmosphere within the cultural circles of the Hungarian capital. The public opinion believed that instead of being excluded from the cultural life of the Hungarian capital, the Jews had set up the Madách Theatre, alongside their permanent theatre, “Goldmark”. The public opinion also thought that the Jews were continuing to have a bad influence on Hungarian cultural life through their representatives that had remained in decision-making positions in Hungarian cultural institutions.
