Ellenzék, no. 97, 1 May 1944

This article records the publication of Decree no. 10,800/1944 M.E. of the Royal Hungarian Council of Ministers on the issue of protecting the Hungarian spiritual life from works authored by Jews. The decree refers to the Jewish writers of Hungarian literature who were to be banned. Their names are listed, and it is announced that all of their books must be taken to paper mills as wastepaper. According to the decree, libraries could only keep one copy of each of the targeted titles, and a special pass would be required to read them.
