Following the enactment of Decree no. 1600/1944 M.E. on the declaration and confiscation of the Jews’ wealth (16 April 1944), the Jews became obligated to declare their assets and close their shops, which would then be taken over by Christian merchants, as appointed by the authorities. Another article in this issue mentions that the Jews’ radios would also be confiscated.
